Diabetes Disease – are you Eating Too Much?

Diabetes Disease – are you Eating Too Much?

Since I have I have been diagnosed with having diabetes I seem to be more on my toes when it comes to the diabetes disease. That was brilliant. I look at and for circumstances that are of concern for the diabetes community and myself.

Here is what I mean.

Here is a short story. As I was eating my meal I noticed that I was feeling ill. You know how they say that other people are a reflection of you? And when those other people do things that are revolting it is only hideous because you do it yourself. During an April, 2007 lunch I found out what I used to do. This was quite eye opening for me. I thought about this event for many days thereafter. What these women were doing hit me where I lived. But a little more about that later.

As I was enjoying my salad and water I happened to see two rather large ladies enter the eating area near to where I was sitting. Both of these women had huge paper bags filled with food. Before long they started into their meals. This consisted of lots of French fries and some other food items. I could not see what they had brought to their tables because all the food was inside the bags. While I read my paper and downed my salad I looked up at these women to see how they were doing. I could not believe how much food they ate. They must have had at least three large orders of French fries. Yes three large orders.

Now I started to think about the Diabetes disease and me.

How much food is in that bag? Why are they sitting at different tables? I went back to eating my lunch and reading about the New York Rangers, one of my favorite teams. I looked up about 10 to 15 minutes later. I was mesmerized this time as I gawked at these two women once again. There were many food wrappers on their tables and huge plastic soda containers in front of each of them. Still eating what seemed like an endless supply of French fries.

These women were telling my story. This is what I mean.

In my pre diabetic days I would do something’s similar to what those big ladies showed me. Ordering huge amounts of food and then vacuuming the morsels in to my mouth like there was not going to be any more food left on earth. I was compelled to eat as much as I could. In my own crazy way I thought there was some medal or reward for eating as much as I could. It is any wonder as I look back that I was destined to be a diabetic?

There you have my little saga. Call it the diabetes disease portion control saga if you want. My issue has been about product portions. I like to eat when I am going to eat. Fortunately for me I am eating a lot more salads and foods that will help me with my diabetes disease. And eating normal sized meals as well.

Eating sensibly sized meals is part of what I learned about what I need to do to handle my diabetes disease. Controlling your portions will help you beat the diabetes disease. If you are interested in a sound eating plan then listed to what The Diabetes Warrior has to say Go grab his free MP3.

The more I listened to people tell their success stories the more I heard one frequent thread in all the stories. That common strand of information was changing your diet. But because I like to eat just about everything, I was slow to get on the dietary band wagon. When I saw an acupuncturist in Allendale New Jersey named Susanna Ewn my life changed. She shot straight with me. She told me that if I did not change my eating behavior I could face some serious or dangerous problems.

Changing my diet has worked for me. Here is my list of beneficial things to do to help you with your diabetes disease. In my order of preference.

1 Start eating better – Watch your fat, carbohydrate and sugar intake.

2 Exercise on a regular basis

For some people it is important to be comfortable with what they are doing. I do not know if this is the best way to go. When I first got serious about addressing this problem I did what was very comfortable for me. I took some herbs. Fenugreek and Gymnema and a blood sugar reducer. And while it worked to some degree it did not lower my blood sugar enough for me to be safe. I needed something more.

Diabetes Suggestions to Aid you With the Diabetes Disease

Diabetes Suggestions to Aid you With the Diabetes Disease

My trials of diabetes treatments

This article is about my direct experiences dealing with the diabetes disease in my life. I will mention diet, herbs, exercise and meditation as treatments I have used to help treat this disorder. It was not until I got serious and accepted the fact that I was a diabetic that I started on my journey to look and feel better. Maybe some of what I say can rub off on you so you to can gain an upper hand on the diabetes disease. I hope you do. My tips are all natural. I did not want to address this disease using medications. I still have not taken any drug and I am now on a healthier highway. Hooray.

Diabetes disease tip number one

Pay attention to the bad fats that are in your foods. While we all need some fats in our diet it’s the trans and saturated ones that can contribute to slower moving blood in your system. Denying blood flow to your feet and hands over time can result from too much bad fat in your diet if you are diabetic. I always look at the amount of fats in food and choose foods to eat that have no or very low trans and or saturated fats. Eat the Mono and poly unsaturated fats. By following this advice I have reduced the tingling in my feet from diabetes neuropathy.

Diabetes disease tip number two

When I reached a blood sugar level of 325 I knew it was time. I had put off taking care of this issue until now. I addressed this initially by taking some Fenugreek and Gymnema Sylvestre. These two herbs plus a product called Stable Sugar helped me reduce my blood sugar to 301. My point is they lowered my blood sugar. And I continue to take these products to help me.

Diabetes disease tip number three

Working out. Whether you are walking or running or riding a bike keeps your body moving. Did you ever notice that many ill people are overweight? Usually if you look fit and trim you will feel better. I work out three to five times a week. Start slow if exercise is new for you. Then work your way up to more arduous workouts.

Diabetes disease tip number four

Relaxation has been difficult for me to do. I have always seemed to be on edge to get something done or I felt that I need to do something. I guess you could say I had a nervous personality. Learning to slow myself down has helped me deal with issues like diabetes. One way I have addressed this is through meditation. At first I did not know what that was. Now I find that being with myself has helped me deal with stress and anxiety. Boy that’s calming. Concentrating on my breathing has been one form of meditation I have used to slow myself down

So in a nutshell my 4 tips are:

Eat foods that support your cause. Stay away from fats that make it hard for your blood to flow.

Exercise, keeps your body moving.

Use herbs and supplements to aid your mission.

Relax. Find the time to take it easy

About the National Diabetic Supply

About the National Diabetic Supply

Diabetes is a disease that claims a lot of lives annually.

Previously, it was a disease for the old but statistics show that younger people are also living with the condition. Controlling the disease needs a lot of enthusiasm and dedication to the daily regimes. Diabetic supplies which include insulin pumps and glucose monitors, make it much easier to put the disease into control right from the comfort of one’s home.

Renata Nyleve Editor of the “Free Diabetic Testing Supplies” website — http://www.FreeDiabeticTestingSupplies.net — pointed out;

“…The national diabetic supply is a mastermind of the government and other health sector stakeholders which aims at ensuring that the number of diabetic deaths and complications are reduced. They embark on ensuring that all diabetic persons can easily access the supplies…”

There are several ways in which this mission is fulfilled. One is by allowing patients to visit their online library where they get information on where to find the supplies in their vicinities. They also get chance to have their prescriptions filled online which are mailed to them or they can pick them up.

The national diabetic supply also liaises with various pharmacies to see to it that diabetic supplies are available in most parts of the nation. They search for companies that are distributed across different areas where it’s much easier for patients to access the supplies.

The national diabetic supply aims at ensuring that each and every patient has a constant supply of these essentials. To make it better for patients to access the supplies, the patients can make a free registration through the company’s website. It’s important that the members get the supplies at highly subsidized rates. The members also get updates on any upcoming news and events as pertains to this condition.

“…Apart from provision of the supplies, the scheme is also involved in advising the patients how best they can control the condition by adopting healthy lifestyles. Their team of experienced staff ensures that patients get the opportunity to learn more about the disease and how to positively live with the conditions…” added R. Nyleve.
