good diabetic recipe with ground beef?
I am starting a diabetic diet because my sugars are slightly elevated and I would like to get them under control
anyways I have some extra lean ground beef and would like some good recipe ideas!

Fajita’s are fine , except the tortilla’s.
Here’s the perfect recipe for diabetics. Good ole’ american chili. All ingredients are low to very low glycemic.
Fry ground beef, add chopped green pepper and 1 onion.
1 quart tomato juice
2 small cans of pink kidney beans, or 1 large:Drained
3 tbs. chilli powder
salt and pepper to taste
Optional: garlic powder. oregano
Simmer for a half hour
You can’t get it any better than that!

No or limit > Items with white flour, white rice, sugar and limit fruits.

i am looking for meal plans for a diabetic thats on a 2000 calorie meal plan restricted diet.
Much good luck on that one!! Most hospitals, dieticians and nutritionists follow the USDA food pyramid for meal planning. They do not take into consideration that each of us is individual and cannot eat all the foods recommended for diabetics.
I suggest that you consult an Endocrinologist and Certified Diabetes Educator in your area.
I have on record, that the doctor that admits me to hospital ask my daughter what foods to include on my plate and that I be allowed to administer all my own maintainance meds from my personal supply.
I cannot eat most of the carby foods on the list of "good for diabetics" foods! I would much rather see people watch the grams of carbohydrate per plate than a set number of calories.

diabetics can eat anything that a person without diabetes eats, they just have to be sure to cover their carbs with insulin. The best way to control blood sugars is to determine (with a doctor or certified diabetic educaor’s help) your insulin to carbohydrate ratio, or how much insulin you need to take related to how many carbs you eat. People who use this method gain the tightest control of their blood sugars. I hope this helps, good luck!
p.s. this doesn’t mean that you can just go crazy and eat anything that you want, you should still follow a sensible eating plan just like everyone else.

i just found out im type 2. my first appointment with the specialist didnt go so well. this lady was super over weight and wanted to talk about everything other then my diabeties. she asked me questions about my life style and eating and actually encouraged a plan not eating lunch as i did before. umm im definately finding another doctor lol.
i dont understand the carb exchanges. i kinda feel stupid asking this. she asked me to test my blood 4 times a day and gave me the targeted ranges. amost everytime i test now im falling in the 80′s range. i still feel tired and slugish and not right. but im almost scared to eat cause i dont know what to eat. im most active at work in the morings and when i look at labels for breakfast items in soo confused. is this typical for someone new to diabeties? can anyone help me understand what to eat? what are carb friendly items i can carry on me for snacks and such?
Go to a book store or Walmart and get The South Beach Diet. My nutritionist recommended it to me. It will teach you about good and bad carbs, how fiber helps slow sugar absorption, it has a list of what you can and can’t eat. Also has recipes. It’s a good book, and easy to follow and very healthy. I got mine at Walmart for $12.00 (paperback) If you get the book and follow it, start with Phase 2 and skip over Phase 1. There are no exchange system with this book. I love it
