You first need to establish a regulated SCHEDULE...of when you check your blood sugar then eat. Once you do so, you need to find the foods that work well with your body and your insulin dosage. You need to eat a good carbohydrate and incorporate a protein or a fat.. to " hold " your blood sugar for a period of time..plus it will cut down on your hunger. Be sure to eat 3 good meals a day and 2 snacks..if desired. Check your sugar before eating to decide if you need to give extra insulin. Also, be sure of your carbohydrate ratio.
References :
I'm a type one diabetic

Seek the help of a diabetic educator and a nutritionist. Watch your carb intake. Things high in carbs will jack your sugar up in a heart beat and watch out for breads and pasta. A little bit could be ok but watch your portion size and learn to count carbs. A diabetic educator can help you with the amount of carbs you should have for each meal per your body and medication levels. Good luck!! ;o)
References :
Diabetic for 20 plus years!

I am a diabetic. I recommend, first, that you go see a Nutritionist. They can advise you as to the right foods to eat, to balance out how much you can eat of what. My limit is 45 grams of carbs a day, and I eat fruit for healthy sugars. I eat a banana or orange for the potassium I need for energy. As for menus or cookbooks, most grocery stores have them in their book or magazine sections or I've even seen them in a rack at the checkout line. By the way, eat smaller portions, exercise at least 30 mins a day, and check your sugar levels before each meal--and eat at least 4 hours in between each meal. Good luck.
References :
Just eat normally eating good nutritious food, preferably the lowest G. I. food you like, in small quantities 6 times a day so your sugar level doesn't jump up and down too much. Exercise is also a good idea.
References :
http://www.ndep.nih.gov/diabetes/MealPlanner/en_intro.htm
