Recently diagnosed – visit to the dietitian to find out my diet. Tea toast breakfast, sandwich coffee at lunch time, meat 2 veg and coffee tea time and was told my diet was good but needed more fruit and cut out sugar and eat brown bread.

I’m just about 2 months into being diagnosed at Type 2. Here are a couple of sites to get you started:

It’s not only sugar but carb counts that you need to be careful of. When you test after meals you’ll know what increases your glucose numbers. For me specifically, a baked potato will increase my numbers so I tend to stick with a baked sweet potato, sweet potato fries done in the oven, or brown rice. No white rice for me. Be careful of starchy veggies as well. Lots of salads, greens, whole grain lite wheat bread, no white bread…low carb pita’s or tortillas for wraps. There is tons of information on the internet, just plug a search in for menu planning with diabetes. Watch your measurements as well..good luck!
