gestational diabetic meal planning is it different than type 2 diabetic meal planning?

Where can you find sample meal plans so you can get started?

It’s the same concept. Depending on what the caloric intake your doctor suggests, of course, the meal plans vary.
My doctor gave me a meal plan. It spells out exactly what I can eat and how much of it for each meal, including snacks.
I’ve had gestational diabetes twice and am staying on the diet to keep me from getting adult onset. Ask your doctor if he/she can give you a sample meal plan.

If you OB hasn’t already had you meet with a dietician, ask to talk with one. They can set you up with recipes and how to distribute the fats, sugars and proteins throughout the day to maintain a desirable blood sugar.
The differences in the two types of diets would probably be in the amount of calcium sources figured into the calorie allotment.
But, like I’ve said a bizzilion times before – check with a professional.
On the off chance that there isn’t a dietician available, contact the American Diabetes Association. They should have cookbooks, or even direct you to appropriate websites.

Gestational diabetes is that related to pregnancy..I would see my OB doctor to get "your ducks in a row" to see what your blood sugar is running, get a glucometer to check you blood sugar, and talk with a dietitian about what to eat for you and the baby..Women who become diabetic with pregnancy are treated differently than a Type II diabetic..and what is so very important is that diabetes in pregnancy can cause problems with the mom and the baby..so it is very important to watch very closely your blood sugars and how you eat during your pregnancy…
