It has dietary information, but more importantly, it has a cure.

Diabetes

All diabetics have a common fluke parasite, Eurytrema pancreaticum, the pancreatic fluke of cattle, in their own pancreas. It seems likely that we get it from cattle, repeatedly, by eating their meat or dairy products in a raw state. It is not hard to kill with a zapper but because of its infective stages in our food supply we can immediately be reinfected.

Eurytrema will not settle and multiply in our pancreas without the presence of wood alcohol (methanol). Methanol pollution pervades our food supply — it is found in processed food including bottled water, artificial sweetener, soda pop, baby formula and powdered drinks of all kinds including health food varieties. I presume wood alcohol is used to wash equipment used in manufacturing. If your child has diabetes, use nothing out of a can, package or bottle except regular milk, and no processed foods.

First of all, I’m glad you’re ready to start making healthy diet choices. Next, there are 3 things to remember with Type 1 DM – Eating carb and protein foods together, eating at the same time each day, and not going more than 4 or 5 hours without eating. I would need to know your height and weight to figure out your calorie needs, but if say you need 2000 calories, then that would mean you would need about 250 to 275 grams of carbohydrate per day. Foods that have carb in them are breads/grains, fruits, and milk. Watch your serving sizes…one serving from those food groups will on average contain about 15 grams of carbohydrate. You could also read labels on food to know how many carbs you’re eating each day…but I would suggest going to an outpatient Registered Dietitian for meal plans and additional counseling. Hope this helps.

You need to see a dietician and an endocrinologist. A meal plan needs to be based on your caloric needs. Taking a set amount of insulin twice a day is a dinosaur regimen. You’ll get the best control and better health if you inject a long acting insulin once or twice a day and then rapid acting insulins with your meals and maybe even snacks. It’s call multiple daily injections….or even better, an insulin pump. I can’t believe that you don’t have an idea of how many carbs you should be eating. Do yourself a favor…see that endo or at least a certified diabetes educator that is also a dietician.

My best advice to you now is if you have type 1, taking two shots a day ain’t gonna work. The Diabetes Control and Complications trial proved this. You need 4+ shots a day or a pump.

Secondly, if you do this and adjust for what you eat, then you aren’t limited for carbs.

3rd, diets are tailored to people. There is no generic diet you can follow. You need to see a nutritionist.

Learn all you can from the following and you should be able to cut that in half (or more) plus keep the complication demons at bay for a long, long time. Read on:

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems…

I’ve found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I’m a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It’s by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It’s called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it’s the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don’t have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be ‘effectively’ cured. Read more about it here:

The book explains what’s going on in our system and what to do about it. It’s really easy and inexpensive. It’s basically diet, supplements, and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:
