Gestational Diabetes. How dangerous is this?

I went to the doctor wednesday and my blood sugar was elevated. They put me on a 2200 calorie diabetic diet. Is it really dangerous? And how important is it to follow this diet all the time. Like if im going out to eat and can’t follow it completely is it okay? And can I have some sugar or none at all? Im a lil confused as to what all this is. I didn’t have it with my first daughter. Any advice will help. Thanks in advance.
They didn’t tell me to check my sugar at all. They just put me on the diet.

Stick to the diet as much as possible. If you’re eating out, look for salads + protein and pick a non-sugary dressing. Or go for something that has a lot of protein and avoid the carbs. So like you could order a steak, but ask them to substitute steamed vegetables for the potato that comes with it.

It’s not just avoiding sugar, it’s avoiding simple carbohydrates. White rice, white bread, potatoes, juices, soda – avoid all of that. That’s easy to do at home. Eating out takes some thinking but it doable. Look up the menu online before you go and plan out what will work so you don’t feel pressured at the restaurant.

28 weeks and borderline gestational diabetic.. Can i indulge my craving?

Im 28 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I just found out that im borderline gestational diabetic. Can i still eat my regular faves like quesadillas and maybe an occasional order of fries if im usually eating only whole wheat and no sweets? Im reallly craving a quesadilla from my favorite resturaunt tonight and i feel as though i deserve it as these last 3 days have been rough completely changing my diet while pregnant. However i dont want to hurt anything either. Im not overweight and never have been even before my pregnany so its not a weight issue.I weighed 117 before pregnancy and since the beginning ive gain ab 30 pounds. Should i go ahead and eat it?

A labor nurse says no.
I don’t think you should have to eat a strict diet though, either.
Talk to your doctor about meeting a nutritionist. He/She should be able to make a daily diet for the number of meals you can eat and with your favorite foods. Good luck–

And just an FYI a normal weight gain is 25-35 pounds–that would put you at only 5 more pounds in 12 more weeks.

What kind of foods are right for gestational diabetic patient?

I was tested positive for having gestational diabeties and I am 31 weeks pregnant. What kind of foods (meals) are right for me at this stage to avoid any complications? I yet have to meet with the diet planner.

Any thing that is sugar free, low carb ( carbs are croken down into sugar) lot of water, be careful with fruits because they contain natural sugers. Things like Fish, chicken ( not fried), water, diet soda, veggies are a good start, also remeber you can get diabetic chocolate and cookies at your grocery store,
