I am starting a diabetic diet because my sugars are slightly elevated and I would like to get them under control

anyways I have some extra lean ground beef and would like some good recipe ideas!
I have a fajita kit.. am I allowed to have any of that?

Fajita’s are fine , except the tortilla’s.

Here’s the perfect recipe for diabetics. Good ole’ american chili. All ingredients are low to very low glycemic.

Fry ground beef, add chopped green pepper and 1 onion.
1 quart tomato juice
2 small cans of pink kidney beans, or 1 large:Drained
3 tbs. chilli powder
salt and pepper to taste
Optional: garlic powder. oregano
Simmer for a half hour
You can’t get it any better than that!

my husband has diabetes, high bp and heart failure. his potasssium levels are dangerously high and his dr wants him on a low salt ,low potassium low sugar diet.this is a very hard thing to do.i cant find any help with recipes or foods on this restrictive a diet. am desperate, please help
he can have no whole grains, citrus, green leafy veggies, potato , banana, sugars, etc. the list goes on. there is not much left to eat

Go to walmart or one of those stores. They have so many seasonsings that don’t contain salt. Start playing with spices too…like rosemary, cilantro…all that stuff…does he like spicy food? Then try some chayenne powder. I try not to have a lot of salt or sugar because it’s just bad for a person. Make some fish and chicken using just salt free seasonings…cook fish with lime juice and lemon juice for flaors and use different spices. Spices really make up for the lack of salt. You can really make anything with out salt as long as you’re making it 100% fresh. When you make dinner…make extra so he’ll have enough for lunch the next day.

I go crazing with seasons…I put whatever in whatever! haha, I love Italian seasoning which contains no salt, I use that in pracially anything.

you know what!? try to eat more veggies, and fruit. stay away from pea’s, carrots, and potatoes (full of sugar, and you will gain wieght)try low carb foods like red meat, and no pork. also get yourself a potassium suplement as you cant have anything like banana’s for they are loaded with high sugar content, and the loss of potassium will make you tired constantly..email me at christinamcarthur@msn.com and i will send you lots of recepies, i have to be on the diabetic diet, so i have lots! lots of luck

my fiance and i are having a baby and she is diabetic. the doctor gave us a new diet for her that say she has to stay under 2000 calories a day to keep her sugars where they are supposed to be. she loves sweets and junk food so this is hard for her. i need some good recipes of things i can make for her but are still in her diet.

She needs to eat lean protein and whole grain carbohydrates. Check out some of Ellie Krieger’s recipes on the Food Network. There are a lot of healthy recipes there. Most of us would be healthier and thinner if we ate more like a diabetic person is required to- if you want to know the truth.

In general, your fiancée needs to watch her fruit intake and eat the fruits high in fiber, like apples, pears and strawberries. This is the time to really read labels and evaluate the fiber content of foods. Obviously more fiber the better. This really helps to stabilze blood sugar, curb the appetite and ease constipation, which is bound to happen in pregnancy at some point. One caution though- since she loves sweets, don’t let her be tempted to eat sugar-free baked goods and candies. They may not cause her blood sugar to spike but the artificial sweetner is not good for the baby.
